LightFeather is seeking a ServiceNow Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 10+ years of experience in ServiceNow development to join our team in the Washington, DC Metro area. This role requires a highly technical and strategic leader who will oversee ServiceNow development, drive architectural decisions, and manage a team of developers. You will take ownership of mission-critical ServiceNow projects, ensuring high standards for scalability, performance, and innovation while leading other developers in delivering complex solutions.

You will guide the technical strategy for our ServiceNow practice, managing a team of developers and driving the development of innovative solutions for our federal clients. This is a full time, hybrid position requiring candidates to be local to the DC Metro area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical lead and practice manager, overseeing the architecture, design, and development of custom ServiceNow solutions.
  • Manage a team of ServiceNow developers, providing leadership, mentorship, and ensuring that development standards are met across all projects.
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex ServiceNow applications, integrations, and advanced workflows, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, Solutions Architects, and Business Analysts to translate business objectives into scalable, maintainable, and effective technical solutions.
  • Develop and optimize integrations between ServiceNow and external systems such as Active Directory, JIRA, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Apply deep technical expertise in JavaScript and GlideScript to create custom business rules, client scripts, and workflow automations that meet business needs.
  • Identify and modernize deprecated functionalities, driving continuous platform improvements and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for resolving complex issues within the ServiceNow environment.
  • Ensure all ServiceNow development is compliant with security standards, performance guidelines, and scalability requirements.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and lead technical discussions to ensure quality and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Stay up to date with ServiceNow releases and industry trends, integrating new features to enhance platform capabilities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust with full BI clearance or above. Active or prior DHS Public Trust with full BI or higher clearance is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience developing ServiceNow applications, including leading teams and managing complex integrations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing ServiceNow development teams, ensuring delivery excellence and adherence to technical standards.
  • Experience leading data migration and enterprise-level integrations within ServiceNow.
  • Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow architecture and experience in designing custom applications, workflows, and integrations with systems like Active Directory and JIRA.
  • Strong expertise in JavaScript and GlideScript, with extensive experience building complex business rules, client scripts, and custom UI elements.
  • Deep knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT Service Management (ITSM) principles.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges within the ServiceNow platform.
  • Strong understanding of platform scalability, performance optimization, and security best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer or Certified Implementation Specialist certification.
