LightFeather is currently seeking a  Scrum Master with experience in data science projects to join our team. In this vital role, you will be the driving force behind the successful execution of our projects, leveraging your expertise in Agile methodologies and your understanding of data science to lead and empower cross-functional teams.

As the Scrum Master, your role extends beyond traditional project management. You will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and guiding teams through complex project landscapes, particularly within the data science domain. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact, ensuring smooth project execution and delivering innovative, data-driven solutions in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

This Position is Full Time, Remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily team meetings for progress updates, organizing and leading Sprint planning sessions, and managing Sprint review processes, retrospectives, and progress tracking charts.
  • Proactively identify and resolve obstacles in sprints and projects to ensure timely completion of objectives, with a particular focus on the challenges unique to data science projects.
  • Provide Agile training and coaching to team members and stakeholders to enhance understanding and implementation of Agile principles within the context of data science.
  • Craft and refine user stories, encompassing facilitation, prioritization, and negotiation activities with business sponsors, stakeholders, project leads, product owners, and development teams, particularly focusing on the needs of data science initiatives.
  • Create and implement metrics and reporting systems for monitoring the progress and effectiveness of sprints, projects, and overall program execution, tailored to the specific metrics used in data science projects.
  • Develop and sustain comprehensive requirements documentation, encompassing business process diagrams, functional specifications, use cases, test strategies, and additional supporting specifications, with a focus on data science requirements.
  • Act as an influential communicator to bridge gaps between diverse product owner perspectives, ensuring alignment and consensus on project priorities and goals, especially within data-driven projects.
  • Employ expert negotiation and conflict resolution skills to navigate complex discussions, fostering a collaborative environment where all voices are heard and integrated into actionable strategies that drive project success.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Active or prior clearance at the Public Trust level or above. If prior, must be valid within the last two years. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Math, Engineering, Data Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Enterprise IT environment, with experience leading data science projects.
  • Experience with requirements tools and tracking (e.g. JIRA).
  • Experience with software lifecycle, implementation tools, languages, and methodologies such as GitHub, Oracle, AWS, Java.
  • Experience providing Agile training and coaching, specifically tailored to data science teams.
  • Experience conducting daily scrum stand-up meetings, PI planning and Release planning, facilitating Sprint planning meetings and coordinating Sprint reviews, retrospectives, and burn-down charts for data science projects.
  • Experience identifying and removing impediments from sprints and projects to ensure on time completion, with an understanding of the unique challenges in data science.
  • Experience developing user stories, including facilitation, prioritization, and negotiation with business sponsors, stakeholders, project sponsors, product owners, and development teams, with a focus on data science.
  • Experience developing metrics and reports for tracking sprint, project, and overall program execution, with a focus on metrics relevant to data science projects.
  • Experience creating and maintaining requirements documentation, including business process flows, functional specifications, use cases, test plans, and supplementary specifications, specifically for data science projects.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
